What Is Your Color?

Every Lego lover knows that there are many colors to choose from when building your Lego creations. A rainbow of colors are available and they keep adding new ones to their portfolio. With so many colors to pick from, I wondered what colors are the most popular. Is there a clear winner and a clear loser? According to Bricklink, the world's largest online marketplace to buy and sell LEGO parts, the most frequently used color in Lego sets is Black.  White is the runner up, followed closely by Red.

This is your chance to weigh in on this question and add your two cents worth. Participate in the poll...

Legos - Why they are the world's greatest toy!

Anyone that hasn't been living under a rock for the last 1/2 century knows what a Lego is. Lego is the largest toy manufacturer in the world. The company that makes Lego blocks originally manufactured wooden toys in 1932, started going by the name of Lego in 1934, and began producing its famous plastic interlocking blocks in 1949. Today, there are approximately 117,000 Legos made every minute. The Lego name comes from the Danish phrase, leg godt, which translates to "play well".  Such a fitting description for a toy that has generated tons of fun in the lives of millions of children around the world.  Lego is consistently listed as one of the top 5 brands in the world by the leading brand companies. It is said that there are 62 Lego pieces for every person in the world.

Why do kids love Legos? Why do we all love Legos?  I would suggest that the following list of 5 reasons would sufficiently answer the question of why:
  1. Easy to use - No learning curve to get started
  2. Colors are bright and appealing - They engage your visual senses
  3. Inspire creativity - If you can imagine it, you can make it
  4. Age agnostic - They appeal to all ages
  5. Portable - You can take them anywhere
If you are looking to rekindle your love of Legos or if you just want to do your part to protect the average of 62 Lego pieces for each person in the world, check out LooseLegos.com and reignite your inner child.  Cheers to awesome Lego fun!

Learn Math With Legos

Most youngsters would tell you that Legos are a blast to play with. That mixture of bright colored blocks of many different sizes get the creative juices flowing in little kids. They create boats, airplanes, tall buildings, cars, and practically anything a young mind can dream up. If that isn't enough, they also are being touted as a means to teach children math. The different sizes are perfect for showing halves, quarters, and eighths. Who knew that fractions could be learned so easily. Counting the knobs on the bricks is such a simple way to engage a child in counting, addition, and subtraction. There are tons of excellent websites that do a fantastic job explaining how to use a few Lego bricks to open up the world of math to the children of the world. Here are some links to just a few to get you started.
